What is the length of the trek?
The trek takes a total of 8 days and runs across two islands: Lanzarote and La Graciosa. The daily distances vary, but the total number of kilometers is approximately 80/90 km, spread over different stages with different levels of difficulty.
Is this trek suitable for beginners?
This hike is suitable for both experienced hikers and beginners who are in good physical condition. The hikes are often challenging, with some steeper climbs and varying terrain, but each stage is achievable for the average hiker. If you are in doubt, you can always take a hiking training course to prepare yourself. Lanzarote is, together with La Graciosa, the least high island in the Canary archipelago.
What are the accommodations during the trek?
You will stay in carefully selected small-scale hotels and apartments in different parts of Lanzarote. The accommodations are comfortable, authentic and offer a relaxing environment after a day of walking. Each accommodation is well located, close to nature or the main attractions. In Playa Blanca we often use a hotel or, if possible, an apartment. Orzola we often use a simple accommodation with a shared bathroom, or, if possible, a simple apartment with a private bathroom.
How much baggage can I take?
For this trek we recommend to bring light luggage. We will take care of the transportation of your luggage from one accommodation to the other, so you only have to walk with a daypack in which you take the essentials: water, snacks, sunscreen, a hat and your camera. Please take into account the transportation service, they like good portable suitcases or bags.
Do I have to do the hike with a guide?
No, you are not obliged to participate in the excursion. Instead, you can use this day as a rest day. If you want the latter option, this will be discussed with us and we will give a small discount on the trip.
What should I bring?
Make sure you wear comfortable walking shoes, a good daypack, sun protection, a refillable water bottle and light clothing suitable for warm, dry conditions.
What is the best time to travel?
The tour can be walked all year round, but the most pleasant period is from October to April. The temperatures are mild then and the conditions are ideal for walking. If you can handle the somewhat higher temperatures, then the summer is definitely recommended.
Can I also book this trip alone?
This tour can definitely be done alone. Your luggage will be transported so that it is easier to walk this tour. Please note the price. There is a surcharge for single travelers and a surcharge for luggage.
What can I expect on the island of La Graciosa?
La Graciosa is a quiet, small island without paved roads, where the pace of life is slower. Here you walk along sandy paths, along the coast and through the nature reserves. The island has a small port town that lives mainly from fishing. The island can be reached from Orzola, ferries leave daily for La Graciosa.
You can also choose a shorter walk or a longer route, depending on your preference.
