This trek is for the real hiker who is not afraid of the heights and distances!

8-day trekking including luggage transport

You will be picked up from Tenerife South Airport and travel by ferry to La Gomera.
La Gomera is a true hiking paradise with varied landscapes. Ancient laurel forests alternate with rugged rock formations, palm valleys, small beaches, and traditional mountain villages. You walk around the island, including through Garajonay National Park, with its highest point at 1,478 metres. Wherever possible, the route follows the coastline, combined with sections through the central mountains along parts of the GR131 and GR132 trails.

If you’re looking to hike some of the most beautiful trails on La Gomera, enjoy nature and local culture, and take the occasional dip at small beaches, this is a rewarding and varied journey.

The accommodations are carefully selected: small-scale and full of character. You’ll stay in traditional fincas and casas rurales, away from mass tourism. This trip includes all passenger transfers and the ferry crossing.

  • Trekking along special views
  • Alto de Jarajonay
  • Special valleys
  • Nice beaches
  • Special overnight stays
  • Hiking island par excellence
  • The flute on La Gomera
  • Including luggage transport

When you arrive at Tenerife airport, our transfer will take you to the port of Los Cristianos. The ferry will take you to La Gomera. In San Sebastián you can recover from the outward journey on the first day. San Sebastián has a nice car-free center with shops and restaurants.

2 | Coast hike
In the morning, after leaving the accommodation, you will head south along the coast towards Playa de Santiago. This side of the island is generally the sunniest side. The tour goes over a very nice part of the GR132 on La Gomera. Leave early! The journey is no less than 21 kilometers long, and although you descend along the coast, you will get quite a climb halfway through this stage.

Distance: 21 km
Height difference: +940 up / -940 down

3 | Up the island
Day two of this trek is uphill to Chipude, Away from the coast! You walk through the beautiful valleys with its terraces to eventually end up in the picturesque town. To the top of La Gomera, Alto de Garajonay. Still, there are considerable altimeters here.

Distance: 20 km
Height difference: +1530 up / -470 down

4 | The King’s Valley – Valle Gran Rey
This varied stage takes you from the mountain village of Chipude down to the coast of Valle Gran Rey. You gradually descend towards the sea, passing through a mix of villages, valleys, and open landscapes.

From Chipude, the route continues to El Cercado, known for its traditional pottery. Here you will also find a few small restaurants, ideal for a short break. The trail then climbs gently towards Arure, where you can stop for a drink and enjoy wide views over the western part of the island.

From Arure, the long descent begins towards Valle Gran Rey. The path winds through open terrain, with increasingly beautiful views of the ocean and the coastline. Along the way, the transition from mountain scenery to the relaxed atmosphere of the valley becomes clearly noticeable.

In Valle Gran Rey, you arrive in a lively coastal village with beaches, palm trees, and seaside terraces—a perfect ending to this stage.

Distance: 10 km
Elevation: +50 m / –1120 m

5 | Altitude meters enough
This is a demanding stage. Gradually, you climb more than 1,600 metres through a varied and scenic route across the valleys. It is a rewarding day of walking with continuous changes in landscape and elevation.

At the end of the stage, you arrive in Vallehermoso, where a comfortable hotel awaits you.

Distance: 24 km
Elevation: +1600 m / –1430 m

  • If you prefer to shorten this stage, it is possible to add an extra overnight stay in Alojera. You can select this option during booking.

6 | Beautiful, beautiful beautiful……..
From valley to valley, spectacular views that is what you see on the island of La Gomera. You will leave Vallehermoso…”the beautiful valley” to continue via Agulo to Hermigua. Agulo, picturesque, old, nice, those are the characteristics when you walk through it towards Hermigua. Everywhere you see nature and the sea in your retina .

Distance: 17 km
Height difference: +910 up / -810 down

1, Arrival at Tenerife South Airport and crossing to La Gomera

Arrival San Sebastian

When you arrive at our accommodation, you can recover from the flight and the ferry crossing on the first day. San Sebastián has a nice car-free center with shops and restaurants. While enjoying a drink you will receive an explanation about the journey, and you will receive the Goodie bag.

2, uphill

The start of stage no. 1 is immediately a tough start. We have to climb a lot, that's why we don't make many kilometers this day. When we have arrived at altitude, we can treat ourselves to a cooling drink at the restaurant. We will return to San Sebastian with a transfer.

3, The mid-mountain range
In the morning, after leaving our accommodation, we go with a transfer to the place where we ended. We continue our journey on a very beautiful part of the GR131 on La Gomera. Don't forget your camera! We walk to the highest point Alto Garajonay. In the afternoon we arrive in Chipude. A small village with a real mountain hotel.

4, The last leg of this GR131
Today the first part goes up and down alternately. Until we enter the Garajonay nature reserve in the middle of the island. From then on, the trail takes us mostly downhill. Finally we have a beautiful view over the valley with the matching name Vallehermoso, 'beautiful valley'. The descent starts and we walk to our final destination of this GR131. A short GR131 but one of the most beautiful routes. La Gomera is the perfect walking island for a reason.

5, We Stay in Vallehermoso
Today we transfer to a hiking area to take a short walk. We also go to Miel de la Palma, where we are informed about the flowers, bees and honey on La Palma.

6, Hike from Vallehermoso
Day 6 and last day we go for a very nice walk through one of the valleys. This walk is tailored to the group.
