What Kind of Accommodation Do We Use?

What kind of accommodation do we use during a Canary-Hiking hiking holiday? We carefully select our accommodation based on the route, location and character of the surrounding area. We do not automatically choose the largest or most luxurious hotels. Instead, we focus on accommodation that fits well with the hiking holiday.
Depending on the destination, you may stay in a small hotel, guesthouse, B&B or a characterful accommodation in a special location.

What Kind of Accommodation Do We Use?

Where possible, we choose small-scale accommodation with a personal atmosphere. This fits the way we like to help you discover the Canary Islands: hiking independently and staying in places where you can really experience the surroundings. The accommodation varies from island to island and from one hiking holiday to another. These differences are part of the experience.

Location

The location of the accommodation is an important part of planning a hiking holiday. We try to arrange overnight stays so that they fit well with the hiking route and the programme for the following day. Sometimes you will stay in the middle of a village or town, within walking distance of restaurants and shops. On other days, your accommodation may be in a quieter location outside the centre. An accommodation does not always need to be large or luxurious to be a good choice. Location, atmosphere and how well it fits with the hiking route are just as important to us.

What Can You Expect?

Most of our accommodation has a private bathroom and the usual facilities you need during a hiking holiday. Rooms can vary from one accommodation to another. You will usually stay in a twin or double room. If you are travelling alone, depending on the hiking holiday, you may be able to choose a single room or a room for sole occupancy. The exact accommodation and room type are listed in your travel proposal or the travel information for your hiking holiday.

Breakfast

Breakfast is included in many of our hiking holidays. A good breakfast is always welcome when you have a long day of hiking ahead. What is served for breakfast varies from one accommodation to another. Some locations offer an extensive breakfast buffet, while a small-scale accommodation may provide a simpler breakfast. If breakfast is not included, this will be clearly stated for the relevant hiking holiday.

Restaurants Nearby

After a day of hiking, you usually do not want to travel far to find somewhere to eat. That is why we try to choose accommodation where there is a restaurant or another option for food nearby. In quieter or more remote locations, the choice may be limited. If this is the case, we will let you know in advance so you can take it into account.

Special Accommodation

Sometimes we deliberately choose accommodation that is a little different. This could be a characterful casa rural or a special place to stay that becomes part of the hiking holiday experience. Not every accommodation needs to be the same. We actually enjoy it when you get to experience different sides of the Canary Islands during your trip.

Accommodation During Island Hopping

When you combine several islands during island hopping, you will naturally stay in different types of accommodation. Each island has its own character, and the accommodation can therefore vary considerably from one island to another. One night you may stay in a hotel in a lively village, while on another island you may stay in a quiet accommodation outside the centre.

Our Practical Tip

When choosing a hiking holiday, do not only look at the hiking routes, but also at the places where you will stay. Accommodation is part of the overall travel experience. We select our accommodation with attention to the route, location and quality. Because we work with different local accommodation providers, the available options may vary depending on the trip and the season. The accommodation included in your hiking holiday will always be listed in the information you receive from us before your trip.
