De GR131 Lanzarote is part of the long distance route.

In the north of Lanzarote in the town of Orzola is the starting point of the entire GR131. A walking tour of 620km that crosses all the islands. Lanzarote is about 75 km long. What will you see on this walk? The north of Lanzarote which is rough and the most green. You walk along the Corona volcano towards the highest point, where you have a magnificent view over the entire island. The landscape of Lanzarote is very volcanic and you will see that during your trip. The transition from a rough landscape to a landscape that resembles vineyards pan is unique in the world. This landscape provides the delicious wines of Lanzarote. You leave this landscape towards the south, Playa Blanca where you can relax by the azure blue sea.

The program

1, Arrival in Arrecife

Upon arrival in Lanzarote, a transfer will be waiting to take you to your accommodation. We then drive to Órzola where we can meet the group while enjoying a drink. Here you will receive your stainless steel drinking cup and your hiking scarf. We spend the night in a simple but beautiful accommodation. We provide breakfast the morning before departure. Enjoy the cozy atmosphere of the harbor restaurants in the evening. There is a supermarket if you want to buy food and drinks for the next day.

2, Departure Órzola to Haría – 12km

The north of Lanzarote is the greenest, and often more cloudy than the south. From Órzola we leave straight through the mountains towards Haría. On the way you can really enjoy the beautiful views and we pass nice villages. Such as the village of Máguez, a peaceful village with authentic Canarian architecture. Haría is the first stop and has a cozy village center. It was also the residence of the locally well-known César Manrique. A man with a unique progressive vision about harmony between man and nature. Manrique's house is now a museum, which you can visit for a fee.
You will be picked up to go to the accommodation. This is slightly off the route, but great for relaxing or doing a few laps in the pool. If you want to stay in Haría to look around and go to Cesar Manrique's house, that is possible, and you will be picked up at an agreed time.
Our residence is located near the fishing village of Arrieta, where you can eat delicious fish in the evening. If you want to stock up on some water and food for the next day, there is a supermarket here.
Breakfast is provided in the morning.

3, Departure Haria to San Bartolome – 23 km

After a hearty breakfast we set out early today. You will be dropped off in Haría, where the first stage ended. Today, in addition to the considerable number of kilometers, also the bridging of the highest point of the island, the Peñas del Charce, is on the program. We walk over the massif at Famara towards Teguise, the former capital of Lanzarote.
In Teguise we have a stop and there is time to eat and drink or have a look around. The toughest part of the stage is then over and we then walk via dirt roads and country roads to the town of San Bartolomé. Our accommodation is again one with a swimming pool and a relaxation area. For those who want to, there is a masseur for a fee. San Bartolomé is a big city with nice restaurants and even a sports shop if you need something.

4, Departure San Bartolomé to La Asomada – 16 km

From San Bartolomé we walk between the volcanoes, up and down to La Asomada. On the way we pass the village of Montaña Blanca, named after the mountain of the same name. When the weather is clear you can see Fuerteventura.
On Fuerteventura we also offer a multi-day Camino hiking. However, Fuerteventura is different from Lanzarote; this route is longer, has more altimeters and passes through more inhospitable and desolate areas than that of Lanzarote. But that aside.
We walk further through the town of Conil where we can have something to drink and eat. Our next accommodation is just past La Asomada. A place where you can relax, swim and enjoy the botanically landscaped garden. Since there is nothing else here, we are committed to shopping for everything you need.

5, Departure La Asomada to Yaiza – 13 km

A short walk today, but the most beautiful for us personally. After the departure from La Asomada, we immediately enter a transition from the dry area to the wine region of La Geria. Spectacularly beautiful how the grapes grow here for miles in the holes typical of the island. You can also see the Timanfaya Mountains beautifully with the different shades of red. A large part of the mountain range is a protected nature reserve and protected from tourists. You can only access with a bus or guide. Perhaps you will encounter some camels along the way that make the rounds with tourists.
And then we arrive in Yaiza. A nice accommodation where you can enjoy the silence in the evening. If you are interested in the history and processing of Aloe Vera, there is also a museum here. Yaiza has a very nice village center, on the east side of the village center is the nice Artesania center. If you want to enjoy Tapas, this is the place to be.

6, Departure Yaiza to Playa Blanca – 17 km

The last day. We walk to Las Breñas through a somewhat rougher area. Boulders and pebbles, clambering up and down. In the distance you can see the salt pans (the Salinas Janubio) of the island to the right of the route. In Las Breñas we can enjoy a cup of coffee or something else. We will walk the last part through a long flat part. In the distance we see Playa Blanca, but it is still quite some distance. You will probably see goatherds walking around with their goats on this plain. Here on this plain it can be quite hot and there is no shelter from shade!
Playa Blanca gets closer and once on the edge of the city we walk on to the end point of this camino. It is located in the center near the old harbour.
Tired perhaps, but hopefully very satisfied and proud of having accomplished this adventurous hike, we still have two days to recover and relax in a truly beautiful resort.
