1 | Arrival at Tenerife South Airport and transfer to La Gomera
When you arrive at our accommodation, you can recover from the flight and the ferry crossing on the first day. San Sebastián has a nice car-free center with shops and restaurants. While enjoying a drink you will receive an explanation about the journey.
2 | Uphill
The start of the first stage is immediately a tough one. We have to climb a lot, that’s why we don’t make many kilometers this day. When we have arrived at altitude, we can treat ourselves to a cooling drink at the restaurant. Then we will be taken back to San Sebastián.

3 | The middle mountains
In the morning, after leaving our accommodation, we go with a transfer to the place where we ended. We continue our journey on a very nice part of the GR131 on La Gomera. Don’t forget your camera! We walk to the highest point Alto Garajonay. In the afternoon we arrive in Chipude. A small village with a real mountain hotel.

4 | The beautiful valley
Today the first part goes up and down alternately. Until we enter the Garajonay nature reserve in the middle of the island. From then on the path takes us mostly downhill. Finally we have a beautiful view over the valley with the appropriate name Vallehermoso, ‘beautiful valley’. After a long descent we arrive in the center of Vallehermoso. We have reached the end of the GR131 La Gomera! A short, but one of the most beautiful routes. La Gomera is the perfect walking island for a reason. We move to San Sebastiàn to make the crossings the next day.

5 | Transition day from La Gomera to El Hierro
After the various crossings we drive together to our accommodation.
6 | Departure Santuario Nuestra Señora de los Reyes to Aparcamiento de La Llanía
From our hotel we leave for the starting point of our first stage of the GR131. We start at an altitude of 700 meters and climb to 1301 meters this day. Malpaso is the highest point where we have a phenomenal view of the island. the paths are wide and easy to do for anyone with a fear of heights. After 15 km we reach the end point of this day.

7 |Aparcamiento de La Llanía to Valverde
The second day is also the last day of the GR131 Camino de la Virgen. No difficult climbs, but through the countryside where you get the feeling that you are walking in Scotland. These last 15 km we mostly walk downhill to the church in Valverde.

8 | A nice hike to the crooked tree.
The GR131 has run. A not difficult trip, but today we are going to do a nice walk with the group, so that you get to know the island even better. In the evening we leave for Tenerife.
9 | Enjoy the day off
Everyone can fill the day according to their own needs. We spend another night near the coast.
10 | Return trip
With an organized transfer you go to the airport for the flight home.

The hiking pin of the GR131
Our unique hiking pin. Each island has its own color. You get this hiking pin when you complete the GR131 Camino Naturales on one of the seven islands. With a group tour you get this at the end of the trip. With an individual trip you take a stamp ticket with you that you have signed off at various locations. With this card you will receive your earned hiking pin. You are eligible for this if the trip is booked with Canary Hiking!
