El Hierro, an island with a soul! You are going to feel this soul. El Hierro is the smallest island, and last of this archipelago. You go back 40 years in time. Authentic, relaxing, no crime, helpful and very nice people. This island does not want mass tourism but small scale.
You stay in accommodations that we coordinate with you.
The 2-day GR131 tour is a people’s route and every 4 years the whole island comes together to complete this tour on foot. Young old, everyone is going to do this trip from the south to the north in one day.
You will walk this route in 2 days. In other words, the last remnants of the GR131, with respect for the islanders. In addition, you will get two interesting walks with a guide, who will tell you everything that is interesting about El Hierro and the Camino de la Virgen. You will experience a wonderful journey and come back completely de-stressed.

1 | Arrival Tenerife
Upon arrival at the airport you will be picked up by your transfer. You drive to Los Cristianos where you take the ferry or domestic flight to El Hierro. You will stay in an accommodation near the start.
2 | Departure Santuario Nuestra Señora de los Reyes to Aparcamiento de La Llanía
From your accommodation you will leave for the starting point of the first stage of the GR131. You start at an altitude of 700 meters and climb to 1301 meters on this day. Malpaso is the highest point where we have a phenomenal view of the island. the paths are wide and easy to do for anyone with a fear of heights. After 15 km you reach the end point of this day. You will be transferred back to the accommodation

3 |Aparcamiento de La Llanía to Valverde
The second day is also the last day of the GR131 Camino de la Virgen. Your transfer will drop you off at the starting spot. No difficult climbs, but through the countryside where you get the feeling that you are walking in Scotland. These last 15 km we mostly walk downhill to the church in Valverde.

4 | A day in the capital Valverde
The GR131 has run.
5 | Samosa
When you see El Hierro, you get the picture of the leaning tree. You will go out with a guide in this area, and you will get all the information. You walk through different landscapes.
6 | Las Rutas de Agua
A completely different part of the island is the story of the tree with water. Another very interesting story from the island. Very green and watery area. Again our guide will explain everything.
7 | Rest day and travel day to Tenerife
This day should be used to return to Tenerife.

The hiking pin of the GR131
Our unique hiking pin. Each island has its own color. You get this hiking pin when you complete the GR131 Camino Naturales on one of the seven islands. With a group tour you get this at the end of the trip. With an individual trip you take a stamp ticket with you that you have signed off at different locations. With this card you will receive your earned hiking pin. You are eligible for this if the trip is booked with Canary Hiking!
