1 | Arrival on La Palma
Upon arrival at La Palma airport, your rental car will be ready and waiting for you. In just under 30 minutes, you’ll reach your beautiful, super deluxe accommodation where you’ll stay for the entire week.

2 | Caldera de Taburiente (Guided Excursion)
Today we head into the heart of La Palma’s Caldera de Taburiente National Park, embraced by towering vertical rock walls and dramatic ravines. We descend via the “Reventón” trail, passing the sacred Roque Idafe — a massive rock where the island’s original inhabitants, the Benahoaritas, once made offerings to their gods.
After a steep 1-kilometre descent, we reach the bottom of the gorge. One of the highlights awaits: La Cascada de Colores, or “the waterfall of colours,” a natural wonder painted by mineral deposits. Throughout the hike, the landscape constantly shifts — rock formations, views, and vegetation change as we go.
We cross the riverbed several times, balancing over stones with the help of walking sticks. The erosion here has exposed fascinating basalt structures — pillow lava in varied tones — formed millions of years ago from volcanic eruptions. We follow the river until it merges with another stream at Dos Aguas (“Two Waters”), the confluence of the island’s two main rivers. From here, we enter the dramatic Barranco de las Angustias.

Distance: 16 km
Elevation: +100 m / -850 m
Duration: approx. 6 hours

Day 3 | Small Volcano Route
Today, you’ll drive on your own to the parking area near Refugio El Pilar, where a truly stunning volcano hike awaits you.
This route is one of the most unforgettable and essential walks for nature lovers. It’s a spectacular trail along the ridge of the Cumbre Vieja, winding through a surreal lava landscape formed by countless volcanic eruptions over time. Wherever you look, you’ll see volcanic craters. And on clear days, you might even catch views of El Hierro, La Gomera, and Tenerife in the distance.

Distance: 15 km
Elevation: +720 m / -720 m

Day 4 | Cumbre Vieja – Tajogaite (Guided Excursion)
The eruption of the Cumbre Vieja volcano, also known as Tajogaite, was the most recent in a long history of volcanic activity on La Palma. Lasting for 80 days, it followed closely on the heels of the pandemic and left a deep impact on the island and its people. This hike to the Tajogaite volcano will be one you’ll never forget.

The path for this route is newly created, allowing both visitors and locals to approach the volcano—exclusively with certified local guides. Access is only permitted with specially trained guides, as the trail leads into the restricted zone.

You’ll join our group for this impressive excursion and walk to the Cumbre Vieja crater. It’s a moderate hike of 7 km in total, bringing you as close as 300 meters from the newly formed volcanic cone.

Distance: 7 km
Elevation: +183 m / -183 m

Day 5 | Free Day
Today is all about relaxing—nothing is required, everything is possible. Enjoy your luxurious accommodation, take a walk on the beach, or unwind with a good book.
Optional tip: Feeling curious? Pay a visit to the local Cigar Museum to learn more about La Palma’s artisanal traditions.

Day 6 | Northern La Palma Tour (Self-Guided)
Today, you’ll explore the lush and culturally rich north of La Palma using your own rental car. You’ll receive a complete route description from us, including all highlights and tips.
You’ll start at the Mirador de La Montaña, with sweeping views of green hills and steep cliffs. From there, continue to the Los Tilos biosphere reserve, a lush forest with giant ferns and laurel trees that feels like a tropical rainforest.
Visit the charming village of San Andrés, and walk from here to Puerto Espindola and Charco Azul, a beautiful natural swimming area carved into volcanic rock.
The day ends with a visit to the Ron Aldea rum distillery, where you’ll see how sugarcane rum is still traditionally produced.

Day 7 | Roque de los Muchachos (Guided Excursion)
Today’s route offers spectacular panoramic views across various regions of the island, including Santa Cruz, Las Breñas, Los Sauces, and Barlovento. Driving up a winding mountain road on the eastern slope, we pass through different vegetation zones and rise above the clouds to reach the highest point of La Palma: Roque de los Muchachos.
The name translates to “Rock of the Boys,” referring to a group of rocky outcrops that resemble a gathering of children. At 2,426 meters above sea level, Roque de los Muchachos makes La Palma the second-highest island in the Canary Archipelago after Tenerife.
Far from any towns or villages, we reach one of the world’s leading astronomical observatories, home to numerous gleaming domes, mirrors, and telescopes operated by European institutions. Officially inaugurated in 1985 by the King and Queen of Spain, the observatory belongs to the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias.

This excursion is guided by a local expert, and transportation is arranged. You will be picked up by minivan near your accommodation.

Distance: 6 km
Elevation: +150 m / -300 m
